Wrestlers That Deserve To Be In The Hall Of Fame

WWE Hall of Fame

Last night I watched the replay of the WWE Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Universal.  As I watched, it occurred to me that many deserving wrestlers are not in. As we know Vince has final say on who goes in. There are also legal issues that have kept several wrestlers out. Recreate Wrestling has put together a list of wrestlers that should be in. (The views only represent the opinions of Recreate Wrestling)

Wrestlers that no doubt should be in the Hall of Fame:

The Macho Man Randy Savage

This is an easy one here. Macho Man has put together some of the best matches professional wrestling has ever seen. He was a WWE Champion and one of the most recognizable wrestlers ever. The debate has gone on to why he has not been allowed in; whether it is the Stephanie McMahon rumor or his brother stopping it.  The fact is it is not a credible Hall of Fame without Savage.

Ravishing Rick Rude

This guy was one of the best heels ever in the business. He could have great match with anyone. He was the only person to appear on Nitro and Raw on the same night. (This is when raw was taped) What I wonder is there a grudge Vince holds for Rude walking out on WWE? Rick Rude died in 1999. It’s time to recognize him for all he did.

Jake “The Snake” Roberts

He was good enough to put a career retrospect DVD out in 2005 but not good enough to be in the Hall of Fame? This does not make a lot of sense to me. Jake Roberts is one of the smartest wrestlers on the mic in WWE history. Maybe he never was a WWE Champion or headlined WrestleMania but this guy needs to be in.

Mick Foley

I think to myself Edge just retired a year ago and is already in the Hall of Fame. Well then Mick Foley should be in. It is clear he won’t be a member of the active roster. Foley was one of the biggest of the Attitude Era. He was a numerous time WWE Champion and did everything in the business you could do, and oh yeah the Hell in a Cell thing he did.

Vince McMahon

Do I really need to explain this? He made wrestling what it is he should give himself some credit in be a Hall of Famer.

Kevin Nash

His name doesn’t seem to come up a lot when talking about the Hall of Fame but he surely deserves it. In WWE he was the Champion for over a year. Then his career exploded in WCW with the N.W.O. I disagree with some of his booking techniques while in WCW; mainly him ending Goldberg’s streak. Nash has done it all. He should find his way into the Hall.

Bob Backland

Backland should really, really hate Hulk Hogan. Backland was the champ for what 5 years? (I need to look that up) He loses to the Iron Shiek and a month later Shiek loses to Hogan and Hulkamania is born. This obviously slows down Backland’s career. Everything he has done before should be Hall of Fame worthy. He came back to wrestling in 1993, turned into a crazy heel and had a successful second run.

Owen Hart

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH AND IT’S TIME FOR A CHANGE! Owen was awesome about playing the whiny heel; one of the best to ever do it. He needs his spot in the Hall. Legal issues have stopped this from happening but it needs to.

Possible Hall of Famers I’d like to see

Ultimate Warrior

I don’t see this ever happening because of all the issues between him and the company. When I was a kid everyone loved the Ultimate Warrior. You were either a Warrior fan or a Hogan fan. What hurts him is he didn’t have a lengthy career. He would come and go too often. The fact is nobody will ever forget the Ultimate Warrior.

Sting

He never wrestled in WWE but there are plenty in the Hall who have not. Sting is indeed an icon. He has had one of the best careers of all time. One thing that hurts Sting in my opinion is he never really wrestled as a heel. Ricky Steamboat did not either but he’s in.

Scott Hall

Has a great run in both WWE and WCW. He was a big part of the N.W.O.  Put Hall in the Hall. The original outsider.

New Age Outlaws

Both these guys are not currently active wrestlers in either of the two big companies. Their tag team was absolutely awesome. I would say they were the best tag team of the Attitude Era. OH YOU DIDN’T KNOW?

The British Bulldog Davey Boy Smith

Wembly Stadium Summer Slam 1992. Enough said. If you haven’t seen the match look it up on youtube. Don’t tell me that was all Bret Hart.

Paul Heyman

There is no Extreme Championship Wrestling without Paul Heyman. Without ECW where would Vince have gotten the idea for Attitude. Just saying. Heyman was a creative genius and I wish WWE realized that and kept him longer.

Wrestlers who probably won’t make it in but I feel deserve it.

Sabu

Sabu was hardcore before hardcore was cool. This guy has done it all and has had some of the best matches I have ever seen. His body is covered in scars; he broke his neck, and ripped open his bicep all for the sake of the business and entertaining the fans.

Brian Pillman

Another guy that was worth a retrospect DVD but not worthy of the Hall?  Pillman was a loose cannon who always kept the audience guessing. His life was but short but I believe he did enough with the time he was here to make it.

Bam Bam Bigelow

He was one of the most agile, big men ever in the business. He even allowed himself to job to Lawrence Taylor for the sake of the business. I loved his work and selfishly want to see him in the Hall.

Chris Benoit

This will never ever happen WWE pretends like he never existed. Benoit was one of my all time favorites but that all changed in 2007. It was without a doubt one of the biggest tragedies ever in the wrestling business. The research has proved Benoit’s brain was identical to an 85 year old man with Alzheimer’s disease. It would be hard for the public to ever get over what he did. The fact is however nobody could wrestle a match like him. I could watch Chris Benoit wrestle anyone. He is a Hall of Famer but will never be recognized as one.

Again these are just the opinion of Dan Venus and Recreate Wrestling.

  2. I agree with almost all of your choices. Kevin Nash most definitely deserves to be in. One correction though, Goldberg's streak ended in December. Mr Nash did not start booking until the following February so it was not HIS booking angle that ended the streak. Hall should not be a possible but a must!
